Non-Discrimination Policy

  1. Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to establish a framework that promotes inclusivity, fairness, and equal opportunities for all participants involved in the Durango Swim Club (DSC). Discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.

  2. Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: DSC is committed to creating an environment that respects and values the diversity of all participants. We believe that every individual, regardless of their background or identity, should be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

  3. Prohibited Discrimination: Discrimination in any form, including but not limited to, recruitment, team selection, training, coaching, competition, and any other team-related activities, is strictly prohibited. Discrimination may take various forms, such as direct or indirect, overt or subtle, and intentional or unintentional.

  4. Equal Opportunities: We strive to provide equal opportunities for all members of DSC. Every participant shall be evaluated and selected based on their skills, abilities, and dedication to the sport, without any bias or discrimination. We will not tolerate preferential treatment or unjust barriers that prevent any individual from participating fully and fairly.

  5. Harassment and Bullying: Harassment or bullying of any kind, including verbal, physical, or online harassment, is strictly prohibited. DSC is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Any reported incidents of harassment or bullying will be promptly and thoroughly investigated, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

  6. Reporting Discrimination: Any participant who believes they have experienced or witnessed discrimination, harassment, or bullying should report it immediately to the designated official, board member or coach. DSC will ensure that all complaints are taken seriously, treated confidentially, and investigated in a prompt and fair manner. No retaliation will be tolerated against those who make good-faith reports.

  7. Consequences of Violations: Any individual found to have engaged in discrimination, harassment, or bullying in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include warnings, suspension, termination of membership, or other appropriate measures, as deemed necessary by the DSC coaches and board of directors.

  8. Review and Modification: This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with evolving legal requirements. Any necessary modifications or updates will be made to further enhance the anti-discrimination efforts of our swim team.

By implementing this anti-discrimination policy, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants on our swim team, where everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential, regardless of their personal characteristics or backgrounds.
