The goal of the Durango Swim Club is to create lifelong swimmers who are technically sound in all four strokes. Additionally, we build responsible, considerate, and  honest swimmers. We run a values based organization. Our intent is to teach life skills through the sport of swimming, such as self-discipline, work ethic, and commitment.

The Durango Swim Club is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization run by a volunteer parent board. The Board of Directors meets each month. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraiser. If you're interested in getting involved in the Durango Swim Board please feel free to visit with the Head Coach or email your interest to [email protected].

All of our coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.

The Durango Swim Club is a United States of America Swimming (USA-S) affiliated club team. The team practices at the Durango Community Recreation Center. The club has called the Recreation Center home since Februrary 2002 and has enjoyed the state-of-the-art eleven lane training facility. The Durango Swim Club is focused on the betterment of USA-S competitive stroke technique and training. Swimmers consistently compete in the Colorado State Championships, Silver State and Western Slope Championships. The Durango Swim Cliub is a fast growing team in this part of the country and is beginning to be noticed at large regional and national meets. Many of the Durango swimmers assisted Durango High School win their respective  Western Slope titles.

Swim Groups

Swimmers are placed in groups based on ability and coaches discretion. We encourage parents to communicate with the coaches about their swimmer and gain an understanding of what is required of each group.

Meets:

We encourage all swimmers to swim in at least 4 meets a year. Durango Swim Club typically hosts two swim meets a year and there are others that are close to home, such as Farmington and Motrose. Meets help swimmers, coaches and parents see the progress their child has made through the swim season.

There are two championship meets at the end of each season.  These meets require qualifying times.  We like everyone who qualifies to attend.

Coaches Communication:

If you need to contact any of the coaches for information or a meeting please email Darren Maxwell at [email protected]
